Wallace Eugene Dravenstott, age 82, was called home to be with Jesus on May 7, 2026. He passed away in his Tucson, AZ home after a very brief illness, and was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Born in 1943 in Lodi, OH to Emmett and Ida (Hileman) Dravenstott, Wally grew up in Creston, OH with his three sisters, where he was very active in 4H and ran track for Norwayne High School (class of 1961.)
Wally was a man of strong faith with a heart for service, including his time as a conscientious objector working at Union Hospital in Dover, OH during the Vietnam War. His faith and family were his top priorities throughout life.
Wally met Dotty, his wife of 59 years, when they worked together at Wooster Brush. Soon after marrying, he was hired by Western Reserve/Lightning Rod Mutual and they moved to Nelsonville, OH where they started their family. He then moved his young family to Sunbury, OH, where they lived for 21 years. He was a much-loved pillar of the community and a very active member of both the Sunbury United Methodist Church and the local Lion’s Club. Wally and Dotty were both instrumental to running the local Ox Roast for many years, where every Labor Day Wally could be found late at night down by the pit enjoying a game of cards with the other Lions.
Once their kids were grown, Wally and Dotty moved to Tucson in 1994, where they became active in Summit Ridge Community Church. He worked 18 years at the Westin La Paloma Resort as a Shipping and Receiving Manager, and remained active in serving the community through weekly volunteering at GAP ministries long after retirement.
Throughout their life together, Wally and Dotty always enjoyed travel, whether it was camping with their young children, cross-country road trips to visit extended family, or taking a cruise together. They also took many trips to do work missions with Samaritan’s Purse or with their various churches throughout the years.
Wally was loved by everyone he met, and could be found talking to anyone, anywhere, with a grin on his face. When he wasn’t working to help others, he could be found reading the Bible, playing cards, spending time with his grandkids, or reading a good book (or 10) on his kindle. Wally’s biggest joys in life were Dotty, Coccia House pizza, Trail bologna & Swiss cheese, Dotty’s homemade pizza, Jesus, card games, his kindle, and fried potatoes… in no particular order.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Ida Dravenstott.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Keister) Dravenstott and their three children, Melissa Shoultz (Kevin), Vicki Dravenstott (Robert Main), Wallace Dravenstott Jr. (Nichole), and his grandchildren, Anna and Michael Shoultz, and Sydney, Logan, and Summer Dravenstott.
He is also survived by his sisters Evelyn Miller (Clayton, deceased), Norita Patterson (Herb, deceased), Sandy Obermiller (Paul, deceased) and Dotty’s siblings; Carole Stewart, (Dennis), Suzi Anna (Hank, deceased), Bud Keister (Hiroko), Bill Keister (Paulette), and many beloved nieces & nephews and extended family.
