Sylvia Michelle Rios

Sylvia Michelle Rios, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born and raised in Tucson, Sylvia Michelle was a proud graduate of Sunnyside High School. She carried a profound sense of duty and patriotism, honorably serving her country in the United States Army. Sylvia Michelle’s deep passion for helping others reached far into her community through a lifetime of dedicated service. Throughout her career, she brought comfort, opportunity, and advocacy to those who needed it most. Her interest started as a teen in high school, working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Arizona Training Program of Tucson. Her advocacy continued by working with Sacasa, Brewster Center, Aviva Children's Services, Homicide Survivors, and South Lawn. Most recently, as an employment specialist for the Beacon Group, she poured her heart into supporting her clients, fiercely championing their dreams, goals, and aspirations.

To know Sylvia Michelle was to know a woman with the spirit of a firecracker. She was fierce, independent, and always dressed to impress. No matter the occasion, Sylvia Michelle was a vision of elegance with her hair beautifully styled, her nails perfectly done, and adorned in her favorite jewelry and stylish heels. She brought a brilliant spark of energy and style wherever she went.

Above all, Sylvia Michelle was a devoted matriarch who cherished her family deeply. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alejandro A. Leyva and Berta Leyva, and her sister, Cecelia Leyva.

Sylvia Michelle’s legacy of love lives on through her husband and best friend, Raymond Rios; her daughters, Stephanie and Sara; and her son, Mikel. She was a proud grandmother to Alyssa, Ezekial, Josiah, Genesis, Ysela, Antonio, Elijah, Reymond, and Mya; and a doting great-grandmother to Meilani, D’Angelo, Mary’Sol, and Thomas (TJ). She will be profoundly missed by her family, her clients, and the countless lives she touched.
