We are sad to announce that Setsuko Kitagawa Dashiell, 92 of Sierra Vista, Arizona passed away early Monday morning, September 14, 2026.

She is survived by her sons Ray and wife Rose (Cory, Kyle, Andrew); Joe and wife Lisa (Joseph, Jacob, Sarah); daughters Theresa Nina (Vanessa, Jenson, Cassandra); Erica (Greg); and 8 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her late husband Sergeant First Class Rayfield N. Dashiell, U.S. Army (Ret.).

Setsuko was born in Aomori, Japan on May 3rd, 1934 to Mr./Mrs. Matsumoto of Aomori, Japan and later adopted by her uncle Mr./Mrs. Kitagawa of Tokyo, Japan. She is a WWII survivor and became a certified Revlon Style Manicurist in 1957, meeting her late husband while working at Camp Zama, Japan, marrying at the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan on February 18, 1964 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1968 after moving to Fort Meade, Maryland. She was well received and resided with her late husband's family in Maryland during his combat tour of duty in Vietnam and traveled with him to other installations throughout his military career to include Camp Zama and Okinawa, Japan; Fort Ord, California; and Fort Huachuca, Arizona having a child at each of these specific locations and eventually settling in Sierra Vista, Arizona after her late husband's military retirement where she successfully raised her family while working full time. Setsuko never remarried after losing her late husband in 1987 residing with her children throughout the country ever since then where she has left a strong positive influence and great memories with all of her family, extended family, friends and extended friends. She is a legend, there will definitely never be anybody else like her, that's for sure. A very precious lady and queen, so original. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

Setsuko Kitagawa Dashiell was cremated as per her wishes and will be buried privately with her late husband at the Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery, 100 Burt Rd., Fort Huachuca, AZ 85613.
