Today, we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Ramon a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought laughter and personality wherever he went.
Ramon was the kind of person you didn’t forget. He had a laugh that was unmistakable almost as loud as his cough and if you knew him, you probably heard both more than a few times. He was a jokester, always looking for a way to make somebody laugh, and his sense of humor brought light into so many moments. He could be a little cranky at times, but he always had a way of showing the people around him that he loved them.
He loved the simple things that brought people together. He loved cookouts, especially carne asadas, and spending time with family and friends. He also had a passion for pool, and in many ways, it reflected his personality. He was competitive, playful, and always ready to have a good time. Whether he was talking a little trash, or making everyone laugh, he brought his own personality to the table. Those moments are a part of the memories that made Ramon who he was, and they are memories we will always carry with us.
Ramon leaves behind his beloved wife, Dolores Sanchez, who shared his life and memories with him. He was deeply loved by his mother, Dora Cisneros, and by his siblings, Yvette Somoza, Annabel Cisneros, and Angel Somoza. He was also deeply loved by all of his nieces and nephews, who will carry memories of their uncle with them for the rest of their lives.
His absence will be felt in the quiet moments, at family gatherings, during cookouts, around the pool table, and every time someone tells a joke that reminds us of him. But while we mourn his loss, we should also remember the laughter he gave us and the memories he left behind.
One of his favorite songs, “Dream On” by Aerosmith, reminds us to “sing for the laughter, sing for the tears.” And today, those words feel especially meaningful. We can remember Ramon through both the laughter he gave us and the tears we shed because we miss him.
Ramon may no longer be here with us physically, but his laughter, his jokes, his love of family, his passion for pool, his personality, and the memories we shared with him will continue to live on through all of us.
Rest peacefully, Ramon. You were loved by many, you will be missed by many, and you will never be forgotten.
Until we meet again.
