Patricia Ann O'Donnell, 89, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in Tucson, AZ. She was born on September 6, 1936, in Marfa, Texas.
Pat started her life being delivered by her own father, John R. O'Donnell MD in Marfa, Texas. Pat graduated with a MA from Loyola University in Chicago. She served nearly 30 years as a Dominican nun, and taught everything from pre-school to college classes. She moved to Tucson assigned to the Picture Rocks Retreat and fell in love with the desert landscape. She remained true in her convictions and built a life in Tucson after leaving the sisterhood. She became a spiritual adviser for many years supporting herself and building lasting friendships. Pat also was an accomplished painter in pastels and watercolors, her paintings are in many of her friends and family homes proudly displayed. She was also a member of the Southern Arizona hiking club and climbed 315 peaks in Southern Arizona. She participated in Senior Olympics and won many track and field events. She was also an avid bridge/domino player until the very end. She enjoyed her cats, hiking, gardening, birding, rock collecting, rust collecting, and had a wonderful backyard oasis with her many rocks and rust collection.
She is survived by her brother, John R. O'Donnell of Richardson, TX, She has many nieces, nephews and life long friends that cared for her very much. She is proceeded in death by her mother Romana Anderson, her father John W. O'Donnell, Sister in-law Jean O'Donnell and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
