Marylee K. Hartmann

March 10, 1945 — June 27, 2026

Marylee Esther Hartmann, beloved mother, grandmother, educator, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving children. She was 81 years old.

Born Marylee Esther Knobel on March 10, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Marylee carried with her throughout her life a nurturing spirit and an open heart that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Marylee pursued her passion for education at Indiana University, where she earned her degree in Education. She went on to share that passion with students across the country, teaching in the Washington D.C. area and later in Arizona, where she finished her teaching career at Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory School. She was immensely proud of her life's work in the classroom and the countless young lives she shaped along the way.

In her later years, Marylee made her home in Sierra Vista, Arizona — a place she loved and where she truly belonged. She was a cherished presence in her apartment community, where she spent time with dear friends who became like family. A woman of quiet and sincere faith, she also found peace and strength in her private devotional life spending time in prayer, worship, and scripture.

Marylee was known above all for her nurturing nature. She was the kind of person who showed up — always available, always willing to listen, always ready to help. Her love was steady, gentle, and deeply felt. Yet if you asked her what mattered most, she would answer without hesitation: her greatest joy and accomplishment was being a mother.

Those who knew her felt it deeply. Yet if you asked Marylee herself what she was most proud of, she would not hesitate. Her greatest achievement, she would tell you, was being a mother.

She is survived by her three children, Shannon Hartmann, Kelly Hartmann Morales, and Brian Hartmann, who were by her side as she passed. She is also survived by seven grandchildren whom she adored — Jason Hartmann, Ethan Hartmann, Weston Hartmann, Brynn Hartmann, Kian Bradbury, Jacob Morales, and Benjamin Morales.

Marylee was preceded in death by her beloved brother, William Knobel.

She will be profoundly missed by her children, her grandchildren, her friends in Sierra Vista, and all whose lives she made warmer simply by being in them. While we grieve, we find solace in knowing that you are now in heaven and in the presence of our Lord and savior.

Rest in peace, Marylee. You were so deeply loved.
