It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished family member, Maria Eurgenia Leyva Gonzalez, on May 16th, 2026. Born on August 26th, 1977, Maru was not only a sister but also a mother, partner, grandmother, exceptional aunt, and a dear friend. Maru always loved music. She loved to sing karaoke at parties. She loved music so much that when we would cross back into the states after visiting with family in Nogales Sonora, the agent would ask Maru where she was born. She would always reply, “TCC”. But we all knew she meant TMC. She leaves behind a legacy filled with love, kindness, and unforgettable memories. She is survived by her partner, Guadalupe Celaya, her mother, Lupita Gonzales; her sisters, Gabriela Leyva, Lupita Gonzalez, and Claudia Gonzalez; her son, Jorge Sotomayor; her granddaughters, Alina Becca Sotomayor and Valeria Sophia Sotomayor; her nephews and nieces: Jasmin Hernandez, Gabriela M. Valle, Everardo Lozano, Claudia L. Lozano, Heriberto Hernandez, Jenise A. Valle, Jesus Lozano, Gabriel Valle, and Julian Lozano; Grandniece; Hayanah Isabella Hernandez as well as her half-brother, Javier Leyva, and half-sister, Graciela Leyva and their children; Jessie Leyva, Joel Leyva, Joseph Leyva, John Leyva and Jasper Leyva. A celebration of life will take place at 2128 S. Sixth Tucson, Az 86713 on June 5th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
