Obituary

Larry Fred Hochwert passed away peacefully in Tucson on August 18, 2026, one day shy of is 79th birthday, with his beloved wife Pattie and his sons with his first wife Sue, Jim and Dan at his side.

Born in Chicago to Dorothy and Harold Hochwert, Larry developed a life long love for the Chicago Cubs that he shared with his best boyhood friends Herbie, Harvey, Ron and Sam among many others.

He moved his young family to Tucson in the 70s and soon many family members followed. In 2016, when the Cubs were on their way to a World Series Championship, Larry was featured on KGUN9 and crowned "Tucson's Biggest Cub Fan" supported by the fact that Larry had assembled a huge collection of Cub's memorabilia spanning many decades.

Funny, generous, hardworking and kind he was adored by family and friends alike. Larry and Pattie spent much of their retirement, listening to local music and going to concerts with an ever growing entourage of friends.

Larry "Unc" is survived by Patti, his children, his sister Barbara, granddaughter Lauren and great grandson Salem. Larry is also survived by many friends, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his wife Sue, and his parents Dorothy and Harold.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
