We have to say goodbye to a woman whose heart was as vast as her faith. Hilda Kratochvil—our beloved Mother, Grandma K, and friend—entered into heaven on March 5th at the age of 83. While our hearts are heavy with her absence, we find peace knowing she has finally been reunited with her husband, Daryl, her sister, Dorothy, and the many other loved ones who were waiting at the gates to guide her home.

Hilda’s life was defined by two great pillars: her family and her God. As a mother to Lyle, she was more than just a parent; she was a devoted protector who loved him with a depth that words can’t quite capture. That love only grew as her family expanded to include Diane, her grandchildren Matthew, Kaitlyn, and Amanda, and her six precious great-grandchildren. To them, she was "Grandma K"—the one who would do absolutely anything for her family.

If you knew Hilda, you knew where to find her on a Sunday. She didn't just attend the Lutheran Church; she cared for it. As an active member and custodian, she treated the church like a second home. Her commitment to the Lord never faltered; it was, as we say, as deep as the middle of the earth. She lived her life with a quiet, powerful conviction that served as an example to us all.

In her final days, when the path became difficult, Hilda found comfort in her animals. Her dogs were her constant companions, helping her navigate her way with a wagging tail and a steady presence.

The greatest comfort we have today is knowing that God answered our prayers. He saw her tired eyes and chose to take her home so she would feel no more pain and no more fear. She is now living a life of eternity in heaven, at peace, exactly where she was always meant to be.

Grandma K, we are sad because we miss you, but we are thankful because we knew you. You will never be forgotten. We love you. God be with you until we meet again.
