Florence Pauline Hendricks

Mrs. Florence Pauline Hendricks, née Robinson, passed at 94 years of age at 03:04am on July 30, 2026. Polly's funeral is at Our Lady of the Mountains 10:30am.

Polly is survived by her children Denis, Penny, Terry, Shawn, and Martin, nieces, nephews, their children, grand children, and great grand children; a mother to legions. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband CW4 (Chuck) Charles Eugene Hendricks, and her son Roy. Polly converted to Catholicism in order to marry Chuck, and she remained a faithful Catholic for the rest of her life.

Polly was a multimedia artist of great skill and accomplishment. She received her Associates Degree from Enterprise State Junior College (now Enterprise State Community College) while simultaneously caring for her growing family. She studied under artist Dale Boatman of Sierra Vista, and held offices while a member of the Huachuca Art Association. She was a local officer in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She painted a mural for the Rod and Gun Club while residing in Germany, completed murals and interior decorations for Arizona and Washington State churches. Her hummingbird illustrations graced the national D.A.R.'s greeting cards. These are but a few examples of Polly's artistic resume. Polly's creativity extended to the kitchen, where she learned to cook delicious, wholesome, and filling meals for a table of eight. She restored antique furniture that the family cherishes still.

Polly became a world traveler, as her husband carried the family along during two three-year tours to Germany, in Nellingen and Mannheim. "Pick a direction; North, South, East, or West!" Polly dragged her bratty complaining children along on Anything Can Happen Day outings through Germany that the kids absolutely hated every time they set out, but unfailingly found fascinating in the end. She insisted the family visit Rome (where she received a Papal Blessing), Paris, and Amsterdam; chalking up an increasing number of countries visited. She maintained order among her children during a trip to meet relatives in Ireland. Back in the 'States, Polly made homes in Tacoma, Limestone ME, Neptune NJ, Enterprise AL, Biloxi MS, Sierra Vista AZ, and with only Roy still at home in Simi Valley CA.

Some time after Chuck retired, the empty nest couple took to the road to became snow birds. Towing a semi-luxurious fifth-wheel trailer, the couple traveled the United States and Canada exploring, visiting with friends and making new ones, and conducting genealogical research. They accumulated quite a collection of genealogical documents and imagery. Polly recorded their travels using photography and writing in a log book.

With advancing dementia, it was time to find help, so Chuck moved with Polly to an assisted living apartment in Tucson until Chuck's passing. Polly was moved into an assisted living situation near her oldest children so they could visit frequently, and did. There, she charmed the staff as she had done everywhere she had been throughout her 94 years.

Polly's life is a model to be emulated. She is sorely missed.
