Elizabeth June Mote

July 7, 1937 – January 24, 2026

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, mentor, and friend, Elizabeth June Williams Mote, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, 12:45 PM, at home in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 88.5 of a sudden illness that took her quickly.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Mote Elliott and son-in-law Todd D Elliott; grandchildren, Spencer Davis Elliott (wife - Kiyo), Maxwell Thomas Elliott, Blake Elliott (husband – JC), Tierney Johnson Adams (husband – David and Great grandson – Oak), Austin, Jenna, Katie, (2 GG daughters) Allie, and Annika Mote.

Elizabeth was born on July 7, 1937, in Chicago, Ill, one of 10 children. She spent several years at Mooseheart Residential School after her mother passed (at 37 years old) and after graduating High School, worked in office positions in downtown Chicago. She met Charles Ray Mote in 1958 at her father’s motorcycle shop, they married in 1960 and soon after, started a family. They moved to California in 1966 and then to Tucson, AZ the Summer of 1970. She attended the first classes at Pima Community College and became a Registered Nurse, working at Saint Mary’s Hospital for over 30 years and retiring in 2000.

After retirement, she took several long driving trips and flew to many different countries. She traveled mostly alone and in between, spent time with Grandkids. She was amazing and fearless!

We have great joy and happiness for her that she has gone home and is with our Lord and Savior! She loves Jesus so much! She was an amazing example of what it means to be a follower of Christ! It has been and honor and privilege to know her, love her, do life with her, and help her in death! We were fortunate enough to live in the same home for the last 8 years and be with her nearly every day!

She used to joke (because of being hard of hearing), “when God said ears, I thought he said beers and I got in the wrong line.” Maxwell told her, “You are going to get new ears, and can have beers… So great! That is nothing compared to the rest of it! I try to imagine what she is experiencing, and I have no doubt, it is beyond what we can think or imagine! This life is but a twinkling of an eye… training for eternity…

Jesus’s greatest commandment is to love God and love people (our neighbors). Mom certainly did that and left us with the example…

I know that mom heard “Well done, good and faithful servant – Welcome home! We. look forward to seeing her again! Until then, we miss you every day!
