Edward O. Bauman Jr., son of Edward Henry Bauman and Quirina Marie Bauman (Schwarte), was born on the family farm in Panama, Iowa, on July 21, 1938. After his father passed away in a car accident on December 6, 1951, Edward, his mother, and his three brothers—Michael, Ralph, and James—moved to Harlan, Iowa. He grew up there, attended Harlan High School, was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, worked at a local bowling alley, and became a second breadwinner for his family. Edward later attended Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Accounting and worked at the Bendix Corporation in Davenport, Iowa.

On July 24th, 1965, Edward was united in marriage to Dorothy Parker Bauman (Edick) at Sacred Heart Church in Moline, Illinois. Together, Edward and Dorothy had two children: their daughter, Ann Marie Bauman (Hinton), born in Moline, Illinois, and their son, Steven Edward Bauman, born near the family farm in Bennett, Iowa. Edward was a kind and caring husband and father, he would give you the shirt off his back. His work ethic was unrelenting and inspirational and his dedication too providing for his family was admired by those who knew him.

Edward and Dorothy operated their farm in Bennett, Iowa for 10 years, growing corn and soybeans and raising feeder pigs, Edward also worked at Wilton Electric Company simultaneously, until the harsh winters led them to relocate to Tucson, Arizona. Edward worked as a certified public accountant at El Rio Health Clinic and the University of Arizona. He also worked as a private tax advisor, security guard, and AutoZone employee before retiring at the age of 75. In later years, Edward faced several serious health challenges, including stents, strokes, heart attacks, and a pacemaker. Over time, the demands of routine dialysis became increasingly difficult, and eventually took his strength and perseverance. After a difficult hospital stay and a period of lackluster rehabilitation, Edward entered hospice care and passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, just a few weeks after his 88th birthday.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, James in 1953 and Michael in 1991.

Edward is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bauman of Tucson, Arizona; his brother, Ralph Bauman of Newhall, California; his two children, Ann Marie (Hinton) of Tucson, Arizona, and Steven Edward Bauman of San Diego, California; his cousin, Bob Schwarte of Huntington Beach, California; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; other relatives; and many friends.

In loving memory of a kind, hardworking man whose devotion to his family will be remembered with love and gratitude.
