David Duane Chapman was born on September 3rd, 1936 and went to be with our Lord on April 15th, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Ruth and son Dean Chapman, parents, sister and brother. He is survived by his daughters Laura Gust (Tom), Rebecca Chapman (Sean Keefe) and grandchildren, Blake Gust, Zachary (Molly) Gust, Emily Gust and great-granddaughter Cecilia Gust, nieces and nephews.
Dave was born in Cherokee Iowa, and raised on a farm in Meriden Iowa. He graduated from Meriden High School and went on to Morningside College. After starting college, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Ft Carson, Colorado. After his service he returned to college and completed his degree. While finishing his degree he met and then married Ruth Sorenson. His first job was with Dakota Iron in Rapid City, SD, then Dave and Ruth moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Dean and Laura were born. His early sales career took them to Fridley, MN, New London, IA, Coon Rapids, MN and then to Hamilton, OH where Rebecca was born. Wanting to be closer to family and always an entrepreneur at heart, they moved to Ramsey, MN where Dave started his business selling fireplaces and later cultured stone and ultimately became a Small Business Instructor at Anoka Technical College.
He was a small airplane pilot, loved fishing, golf and long drives to see the scenery; travelled around the country and world, and loved his Arizona Wildcats. He had a very strong faith and so enjoyed his Bible study group and church family. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren who he was very proud of.
After retiring Dave and Ruth split their time between summers in MN at “the river” and Green Valley, AZ. The last couple years they lived year round in Green Valley. He was so loved and will be missed.
Memorial Service - May 2nd, Green Valley Evangelical Free Church, Green Valley, AZ. at 11:00.
