David "NiteTrain" Caldwell, a larger-than-life figure known for his unmatched craftsmanship and love of the open road, passed away on April 5, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. He was 62 years old.
Born on June 11, 1963, in Orange, California, David was the son of Janie Lee Caldwell (Wellever) and David Joseph Caldwell. From an early age, he exhibited a passion for working with his hands and creating something extraordinary. This passion led him to become a Master Welder in the automotive industry. Renowned throughout California for his exceptional skill and artistry, David worked on automobiles for some of the most high-profile celebrities, leaving behind a legacy of precision and excellence that will never be forgotten.
Beyond his professional achievements, David was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who lived for the thrill of the ride. Over the course of his life, he logged more than 500,000 miles under his ass, on two wheels. His adventures took him to iconic destinations such as Sturgis, Daytona, and Harley-Davidson's 100th Anniversary celebration. Most recently, he could be found riding his stunning 2012 Pearl White Harley Road King alongside his beloved fiancée, Deborah Cain.
David’s personality was as bold as his lifestyle—handsome, and undeniably charismatic, full of unwanted knowledge and playful as the day was long. A self-proclaimed ladies' man, a fascination with the mirror and his fantastic new curly hair, he had a zest for life that knew no bounds, he cherished every moment spent with those who brought meaning to his journey. To those who didn’t and to CANCER itself—he had only one parting message: “A big Fuck you!”
In keeping with David’s wishes and characteristic candor, he chose not to acknowledge surviving family members in this tribute. As he once said with his trademark wit and honesty: "They didn't care to help me when I needed them the most. So all I'm leaving them is this stupid obituary!"
David is predeceased by his parents, Janie Lee Caldwell (Wellever) and David Joseph Caldwell.
Though gone from this world too soon, David "NiteTrain" Caldwell leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, adventure, and unapologetic authenticity that will continue to inspire everyone who knew and loved him. May his memory ride on forever in the hearts of those who shared in his remarkable journey.
Ride free into eternity, NiteTrain. Train keeps a rollin’....
