It is with a profound sense of loss and a heartfelt celebration of life that we announce the
passing of our beloved Darla Sue Schumann on April 6, 2026. Darla departed this world
peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 83. Her journey began on November 4, 1942,
in the quaint town of Cone, Texas, where she was born to the late William Wilbur and
Jessie Mae Thomas.
Throughout her life, Darla was a beacon of love and joy, whose warmth and compassion
touched the lives of all who knew her. She was predeceased by her cherished parents and
her beloved husband, William Schumann, with whom she shared many years of happiness
and companionship.
Throughout her life, Darla was surrounded by family, who were her greatest source of
pride and joy. She leaves behind her loving siblings, Lynda Stewart, Bud and Brenda
Thomas, whom she cherished. Her legacy is further carried on by her children: Jeffery
Todd and Debbie Bolin, Thomas and Jacqueline Bolin, Gus and Tawnya Towle, William
Tracy and Patricia Bolin, Jerry and Billie Sue Gross, Sheila and Lesley Thorne, Nick Lohr,
Marji Irish, and Tisha Schumann. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were a
guiding light to her family, who honor her memory with gratitude and love.
She was a proud grandmother to Mike and Kristyl, Jeffrey and Alicia, Christopher, Andrew
and Michelle, Cody and Mary, Bud and Tiffany, Jason, Cody and Brooke, Bernadine (Suzie)
and Ulysses, Tyler and Tiffany, Jessie, Tyler and Cheyenne, Kaitlyn and Eric, Dakota, and
Evan. Her great-grandchildren Zach, Madison, Brooklyn, Esther, Hannah, Miriam, Akai,
Bristol, Indie, Meyer, Miller, Cooper, Clayton, Addison, Stetson, Laramie, Parker and
Linsey, Clay, Eli, and Xander were the jewels of her heart, and she found immense joy in
watching them grow.
Darla's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of family. Her
spirit was a source of inspiration, and her legacy is one of endless love and unwavering
strength. She was a woman of grace and dignity, whose gentle presence will be deeply
missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to honor and celebrate Darla's remarkable life will be held on July 18, 2026, at
10:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado. Family and friends are invited to join
in remembering a life well-lived and to offer their farewells to a woman whose love and
kindness will echo in their hearts forever.
In remembrance of Darla Sue Schumann, let us carry forward her legacy of love and joy,
cherishing the moments we shared with her and finding comfort in the beautiful memories
she left behind. Her spirit will live on in those who were fortunate enough to be touched
by her life.
