Dan “Bub” Leroy Pine, 90, of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026.
Dan was born on July 7, 1935, in Columbus City, Iowa to Haig and Nola Pine.
In February 1955 Dan entered and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
After his military service, Dan began his career with Texaco in Long Beach, California. He started as an office clerk, earned numerous promotions, and ultimately served as a senior marketing representative.
In 1978, following a promotion with Texaco, Dan relocated to Tucson, Arizona. He was deeply committed to his work, dedicating more than 34 years to the company. Dan was well respected and greatly valued at Texaco, where he was frequently recognized and celebrated for his contributions. He retired from Texaco in 1994.
He valued an active lifestyle and had a strong connection to sports. His interests included competitive tennis in which he competed in both singles and doubles matches. He also gave back to the community by volunteering as a youth basketball coach at his church.
He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Eric) Juengel, his sister Elaine (Harold) Nicholson, his grandchildren Danielle Juengel and Derek Juengel, his three great grandchildren, as well as longtime friend Susan Lake.
Dan’s family will host a celebration of his life for those local to Tucson at Calvary Tucson East Campus (8711 E. Speedway Blvd 85710) on Friday February 13 th at 10 a.m. There will also be a final service in his home town of Columbus City, Iowa where he will be laid to rest. The service will be at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral Home (603 2nd St, Columbus Junction, IA 52738), date and time to come. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercury One https://mercuryone.org/
Dan will be remembered for his deep love of God and his unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He also had a deep love and passion for his country as well as sports, specifically U of A sports, in which he would want us to say “Bear Down!”.
His spirit will live on through the family and friends who loved him deeply, his accomplishments and through everyone that he has mentored and influenced throughout his life.
