Cynthia R. Castillo "Cindy", age 63, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. She was a longtime resident of Naco, Arizona, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cynthia was born on July 1, 1962, in Bisbee, Arizona, to Julian and Angela Castillo, who survive her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love for her family was the center of her life. Her presence brought comfort, strength, and a sense of home to those around her.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Eva Fontes; her cherished grandchildren, Max and Ramon Fontes, who were the light of her life and her greatest joy; and her siblings, Rosa Maria, Dianela, and Evelyn. Cynthia also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews: Ariana, German, Angela, Ernesto, Jesus, Julian, and Camila, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Eva and Jesus Rubio; her nephew, Julian “Guero”; her uncle, Armando “Puri”; and her cousin, Armando “Boy,” whom she now reunites with in eternal rest.

Cynthia had a natural gift for cooking. Preparing and sharing meals was one of the many ways she expressed her deep love for others. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness a reflection of the care and generosity she showed throughout her life. She will be remembered as a loving, strong, and deeply family-oriented woman whose kindness and gentle spirit left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.

Services and memorial details will be announced by the family at a later time.

As a woman of faith, Cynthia trusted in God’s promise of eternal life. We take comfort in the words of Scripture:

“In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?”— John 14:2

May the angels lead her into paradise, and may perpetual light shine upon her. Cynthia’s legacy of love lives on through the family she cherished so deeply, and she will forever remain in the hearts and prayers of those who knew and loved her.
