Conrad passed away at the VA Hospice Center peacefully at age 82 after a short, determined bout with cancer—handled, as he handled most things, with intelligence, grace, and just enough dry humor to keep everyone on their toes.
Born and raised in Lewis County upstate New York to Henry Jacunski and F. Wanda Jacunski (Gorski), Conrad grew up with a sharp mind, a strong work ethic, and opinions he was never shy about sharing. He put his intellect to good use, earning an MBA and building a life defined by curiosity, thoughtfulness, and a lifelong love of learning. If you ever wondered what Conrad thought about a particular topic, you usually didn’t have to ask—his famously snarky t-shirts often said it for him.
Conrad proudly served his country in the United States Navy, both on active duty and in the reserves, an experience that shaped his sense of responsibility, discipline, and loyalty. These qualities carried through every chapter of his life.
For 39 years, Conrad was the devoted husband of his beloved wife, Sally (Catalano) with whom he shared a partnership rooted in love, respect, and countless shared laughs. He was a proud father to James Henry Jacunski and Amanda Elizabeth Pitts (Jacunski) offering them wisdom, encouragement, and a steady example of kindness and optimism.
Conrad was known among friends and neighbors as a warm presence—someone who enjoyed good conversation, good company, and a very good glass of bourbon. He valued community, relished social gatherings, and had an easy way of making people feel welcome. His positive outlook on life was genuine and contagious, even when circumstances were less than ideal.
Conrad leaves behind a legacy of intelligence, humor, service, and quiet generosity. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, his kind heart, his expressive wardrobe, and the way he approached life with both conviction and compassion.
He will be deeply missed—and fondly remembered every time someone reads a clever t-shirt, pours a good bourbon or shares an honest opinion with a smile.
