Armando Daniel Orantez

Armando "Dito" Daniel Orantez, age 56, passed away at home on September 14, 2026 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He is known to his family and close friends as "Dito." He is a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind his parents, Armando and Andrea Orantez, his siblings, Melinda (James) Ortega and Rene (Victoria) Orantez, and nieces and nephews, Jade Richardson and Michael, Esme, Vinnicia, and Rene Jr. Orantez.

Dito was born on February 6, 1970 in Tucson, AZ and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1988. Dito was a retired corrections officer and then worked at Tucson Medical Center for many years in security. He was hardworking and independent.

Dito enjoyed baseball and cigars. His favorite team was the New York Yankees and his favorite cigars were Macanudos. In his teenage years he was skilled at juggling, unicycling, and magic tricks. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, socializing at the casino, and collecting art. Dito was a man of few words that showed his strength and devotion to his family through steady actions, calm presence, and reliable support. He was a private person and preferred a simple straight forward life. He had a sharp sense of humor and often quoted his favorite lines from movies, tv shows, and commercials. To his family he will forever be "The Most Interesting Man in the World.”

A funeral mass will take place at Saint Monica Roman Catholic Church, 212 W. Medina Rd, Tucson, AZ, on Monday, September 28, 2026 at 10am. Following the mass, a gathering for family and friends will be held at the Casino of the Sun, Sunset Room, 7406 S Camino De Oeste, Tucson, AZ, at 12pm for a celebration of his life and spirit.
